This is my first blog on any subject. As you know from my website, I’m new to writing personal stories. Finance and administrative policy has been my bailiwick. I waded into newspaper writing briefly with stories about supporting peace efforts and women’s equality. However, at this point so many political endeavors are filled with distress, distraction and distrust, I’m not inclined to write about them. I hope that changes in the future.

Right now I’m pursuing personal stories about travel and family. My first journey was precipitated by the end of a 30 year marriage which was an overwhelming experience.  I didn’t know who I was after that. So I spent thirty eight days walking and thinking on the Camino de Santiago, and meeting others who were doing the same. Everybody had their own reason.

I’m finding personal stories inspiring and refreshing to write. Are you writing?

*If you can, please respond in 250 words or less.  Otherwise it takes too much time away from my writing. I hope to blog weekly.

Congratulations from the UK, Elizabeth! Firstly, for the acceptance of your story by Green Briar Review, but also for this website, your blog, and for following through on your resolve to write personal essays and blazing a trail for us all. Good luck with the S&H Green Stamps story. In the UK, we had Green Shield Stamps, based on the success of Sperry & Hutchinson's Green Stamps in the US. Then S&H decided to get into the market here, but since green was already taken, they opted for pink stamps. So, for us it was S&H Pink Stamps. Green Shield stopped altogether in 1991 and the catalog company that had blossomed from it was re-branded as Argos, still a very popular catalog and store front operation.

Thanks for all you've shared and its thrilling you are following your heart! I have written personal essays but not recently. Perhaps I'll rework one that has been in progress since I was 8 ... about having a really old dad! I look forward to further posts. Thanks for the email notifying me of the publishing of Hello 4. Hope I kept to under 250 words!!!
