The new administration doesn’t give a shit about women, Blacks, Hispanics, or other people of color and children.

In other words, this administration only gives a shit about rich white men. So if you happen to be one of them, everything's cool.

I’ve been trying to ignore what’s happening, but it’s impossible. Countless executive orders are advertised every day. Yes, advertised like a product. There’s something for everyone except rich white men. They get their benefits through tax breaks, contracts, appointments, etc. I’m not against white men. I’ve been fighting for equality.

These executive orders have achieved two things so far: fear and confusion.
Some individuals fear deportation, but the details are either vague or unconstitutional, causing them to dread the unknown. Another order eliminates programs promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in hiring practices. Yes, it will affect women and people of color. This is a terrible way to treat individuals in a democracy. Oh, right. That’s another unknown.

I hope the administration takes the weekend off so we can have a couple of days of peace.

Yikes. We lost the election and I am so disappointed in my fellow man. Now we have the orange mango baboon at the helm and he is throwing the shit around. If everything isn't broken yet it soon will be.

Thanks, David. It feels like the point here is to confuse and make people anxious. Thank God for the courts. They are already putting holds on the worst executive orders.

Let's wait and see how things turn out. It's going to be ugly for a while, no doubt about it, but I wonder how workable many of these edicts will be. I think this might be the final rearguard action for backwardism. The future has to be what Kate Raworth called "doughnut economics," because rich white men can't utlimately breach all the contradictions that come with unbridled capitalism. Power will always reside in wealth all the time we worship wealth over the health of more important things. Clearly, the poltical structures have to change. Get rid of the presidency for a start and stop thinking that democracy can only be measured by having the right to vote, as if that is not compromised by all sorts of other undemocratic elements.

This period is going to be the worst - a constant barrage of violations of things and people we care about. I am plowing ahead with what I have been doing that is positive, trying to figure out which organizations will be most effective with my financial contribution, and paying attention to what new things I can get involved with. There is just way too much at stake. If you have any thoughts about effective organizations, I would be happy to hear about it.

I do not ignore what is going on, rather, I work on letting go of not having control over the situation. I find that by focusing on gratitude, I am happier.
